The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission approved the replacement of the Missouri 100 bridge over Shawnee Creek in Osage County.

The commission awarded the contract for the project to Mera Excavating, which submitted the low bid of $708,160.

The current bridge, located west of Morrison, was built in 1947. It is included in Gov. Mike Parson's $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across Missouri.

Work will begin this summer, though a start date has not yet been established.

Once work begins, the road will be closed for up to three months.
