The Jefferson City Fire Department reports it has responded to several ordinance violations of people burning yard waste over the past week.

The city's outdoor burning season ended March 1, so residents inside city limits are no longer allowed to burn yard waste.

Burning season starts Nov. 1 and ends March 1 each year.

Fire officials warn residents the ordinance will be enforced and may result in a fine for burning.
