Dear Editor:

We, as United States citizens, should be cautious in our acceptance of things that look too good to be true, as they generally are.

The molding of the United States has been on a downward direction, for some time, as the attention of our people has been diverted from things that are important to things that are much less important. This is being done, and has been done, through advertising. Advertising takes many embodiments, from "headlines" to "news broadcasts," from "TV shows" to "movies." It's a fact that if you hear something enough times you will believe it.

The idea of communism being the direction to consider had been ongoing since the 1930s. Our leaders read the complete plan in 1963 regarding the takeover of our country without lifting a finger or advising the public.

Among the things in that communist manifesto were: capture both of our political parties' ideologies; gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures; promote ugliness; eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them "censorship" and a violation of free speech and free press; break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio and TV; present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as "normal, natural, and healthy;" eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of "separation of church and state;" discredit the American Founding Fathers by presenting them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the "common man;" support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture-education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.; treat all behavioral problems as psychiatric disorders which no one but psychiatrists can understand or treat; discredit the family as an institution and encourage promiscuity and easy divorce; create the impression that violence and insurrections are a legitimate aspect of our tradition; students and special-interest groups should rise up and use united force to solve economic, political or social problems.

There were more things suggested, but I have selected the ones that have taken place while we have been distracted by military conflicts, immigration problems, drug abuse problems, and other overly advertised "problems" that will keep us off balance and losing sight of what is actually happening.
